St. Stephen’s Spring

 

 

 

The water pouring out from the St. Stephen’s spring, which is of volcanic origin and one of the most fascinating places in Cave, is well known around the area for its properties.  In fact it is a low mineral content water which has therapeutic properties and , according to the famous municipal doctor Luigi Ariola, it is useful in the treatment of kidney stones or gravel, gout and even some skin diseases. Seemingly, the water from this spring, which once belonged to Clementi family, was of benefit to Michelangelo Buonarroti, too.
